How fast is the turnaround on self-tapes?

Standard turnaround is within 24 hours of your session, and most clients receive their files within 12 hours. Rush delivery is available on request for same-day casting deadlines.

Do I need to bring my own reader?

No. Every standard self-tape session at Tall Tale includes a trained reader. Michael J. Middleton and Danielle Larracuente are both working actors and on-camera coaches, so you're reading with someone who understands tone, pacing, and how to give you a usable scene partner.

Is there a monthly membership for working actors?

Booking a professional self-tape studio for the first time can feel like one more unknown on top of an already stressful audition. So here's the whole thing, start to finish — what happens at a session at Tall Tale Self Tapes, our private self-tape studio in the LAX area of Los Angeles.

Before you arrive

When you walk in

The studio is private and by appointment only, so the room is yours. The lighting is already set, the camera is ready, and the backdrop is clean and casting-friendly. There's free street parking outside, so give yourself a couple of minutes to breathe instead of hunting for a garage.

During your session

You'll work with a trained reader — one of the studio's founders, both working actors with over 20 years in the industry. We read with you, not at you. A teleprompter is there if you need support with the lines. You'll do multiple takes, watch playback, and adjust. Nobody rushes you out mid-thought; the session is structured so you leave with a take you believe in.

After your session

Your files are delivered within 24 hours — usually much faster — cut, labeled, and ready to submit. Members on the unlimited plan get editing included with every tape.
